Legend Ram Warranty w/Missing Receipts?
Hey Guys
Just a general question. I have sitting in front of me a Legend 256 Meg DDR PC2100 Ram stick. Its slowly died in a computer on mine (would start up, wouldn't start up, would start up, wouldn't start up). Took me ages to work out it was the faulty component. Now the thing is Legend Ram (from what I can tell) always shipped with a lifetime warranty. But for the life of me I can't find the reciept at present. Am I shit outa luck? |

Nah, legend are good about RMA's - call them in auckland 4153442 and chat to them about it, they will most likly point you to their preferred reseller in your area

Good compatablity, great service and large stocks of intel cert stuff, also good at finding rare stuff (like single side sticks)

I felt shocked
|
Generally good, but bad points include....
Never answer phones RAs shocking considering they send most to aussie first.

as for RA's unless is a really rare part they keep heathly levels of stock in hand, never had an RA take more than a few days, this is from our company to them direct, end users RA'ing might take longer depending on the company. Once again YMMV |

Arg - Can Someone Gimme A Hand
Finally got hold of Legend (Deff was right about trying to ring them by phone - although in their new premises they are moving from 3 lines to 10 w/a new phone number).
They basically won't do a RMA unless its done from a reseller - even though they willingly admit they will support their lifetime warranty. Does anyone here with an account with them wanna do me a big favor and run a warranty for me on a Legend 256 DDR2100 Ram Stick. Legend will warrant the stick but it needs to go through a reseller. Can anyone lend a hand? |

Not the most helpful suggestion but just have a look on tardme for another one |

About $40 bucks.
And 40 bucks is like food for 3-4 days - Just kinda gutted about the whole 'Life-Time Warranty Thing'. Joys of a student |

I just sold a new 256mb pc3200 for $25, Im sure you can find a pc2100 for less than that, I can sell you a 512mb ddr400/pc3200 (2.5-3-3-6 timings) for $70 inc post
I realise its the principle of lifetime warranty but you shouldnt pay more than $20 for what u want 2nd-hand |

Yeah - I suppose thats true. But I still have a 256 Meg Stick of Ram here that shouldn't be broke. And I refuse to throw it away - I mean would you :P
Thanks for the input though. |

Receipt
You lost your receipt. There is your problem in a nutshell.
Even if you had the receipt, I think it would be fairly hard to find a reseller who is prepared to do the RMA for you. You see they get nothing out of it. Man I am glad to be out of this game. What bout you Deff? |

Exactly, if it was a $200 Corsair stick you could possibly prevail on someone to chase the warranty , but to ask someone to RMA a $15-20 item (replacement cost) because you lost the receipt?

Yeah I see what you mean. I suppose I'm got a kind of padantic (spelling)nature to me. It just sits there, mocking me, laughing at me, highlighting my failures... yeah you sit there and stay dead bitch.
Ah well. Again - thanks heaps to everyone who helped with input/suggestions. |

well, if it makes you feel any better, I have a nice wireless logitech mx700 mouse & keyboard (combo) sitting here with a broken base station. took me hours to find the reciept and a) it turns out to be 18 months old and b) the place I got it from no longer exists.
so I'll see your $20 and raise you $150 and my 8 port switch blew up.. hasn't been a good couple of weeks for hardware really... *sigh* :| |

HENCE WHY FOREVER ALONE
|
What would happen if the store you bought it from went under?
You couldn't return it to them - so you should just claim that, _and_ that you don't have a receipt. Since all Legend RAM would go back to the same place anyway, I don't see what difference it makes. Lifetime Warranty Power! Put your excessive student spare time to some good use and argue with those m0f0s Its all about replacing that RAM y0 - don't let it talk to you like that! :P

the big thing is that legend themselves wont deal with end users fullstop, and unless he's got proof of purchase or whatever theres really nothing theyll do anyways, not many stores would want to help out some random dude that walks in off the street and says " i brought this from these guys but can you send it back for me " for logitech stuf its a piece of piss tho coz none of their gear has a serial number on the box as such so it makes it real easy to just send it back as if it was from somewhere else |
