10.5 - eh?
Bah.
Stupid mini series' tv 2 picks up for $2. Had some good actors, and some decent effects..but the writing really bothered me. Interesting sidenote: A film all about the destruction of Cali-forn-nigh-A...was shot in Vancouver..heh |

Damnit, I really wanted to see this.
Did anyone videocap it or know someone who did? |

Didn't see it, but I just can't buy Beau Bridges as the US President 0_o

It was absolute rubbish IMHO. All American patriotism and martyrdom, and deathbed soulsearching.
I wondered how none of those experts equipment ever stopped working, even thought their office was falling down round their ears. And I just couldn't take Beau Bridges seriously as the American President I'm afraid. Meh. |

***Quasi Spoiler***Not that it matters unless you taped it but hey, it's only polite***
I got a lot of pleasure out of humming "Aenima" during the destruction sequence, up until everyone survived, even the namby pamby sidekick to Kim Delaney. I so wanted him to be crushed by that falling tower, but nooooo. |

Haha that was so bad.. had to laugh at the breaking news banner that read 'MARSHAL LAW'..
Er, who's Marshal Law? Either some pretty crappy filmmaking, or the best, most subtle simulation of CNN I've ever seen :P |
8th June 2004, 08:54 | #11 |

i didnt watch it becuase it looked lame but wouldnt the government of envoked marshall law , aka the army taking control of the citizens ? maybe thats what it meant ...

I laughed my ass off at the fact that they moved everyone out of the cities and directly into the path of the massive fault.
Also, it doesn't matter how the scale actually goes, would you have even bothered to watch 9.3? |
8th June 2004, 12:32 | #22 |

I changed the channel when I saw that train being chased by the fault line. I mean how lame is that? I expected that in a Superman movie but this?
Thank goodness for the doco on the History channel. |

The music did it for me =/ Even more than the typical American acting and patriotism, the music just screamed cheesey mini series.

Just remembered another bit of crappiness: The whole "Hey look ma, I'm Bruce Willis from Armageddon" thing was uber-lame. And unlike Bruce, he didn't actually save anybody.

Didn't see the first part but watched about 3 seconds, realised it was shit and watched 'what becomes of the broken hearted' instead, which was a far superior movie.

Saw the last half hour - the dude getting atomized by the nuke lying on top of him was hilarious.
Overall a pathetic effort, but the last scene of the creation of a new bay did make me think what a staggering thing it would be to witness. |

Was going to watch it but picked Once were warriors / What become of the broken hearted instead.

Watched about 20 mins of it - what rubbish.
Did anyone else out there find the constant zooming in and out and quick changes of camera angles really really annoying? |

Any bets on what they would of called the new island? (after they stopped walking around going "fuck, my old town is now an island surrounded by a big arse salt water river and im lazy yank that never learnt to swim..darn"
Really the island name should be something Tool related, homages are important. Shoulder Deep River and Third Eye Island anyone? (hey its kindad like 3 mile island..) |
8th June 2004, 23:49 | #37 |

H Island
(-) Island Isle of The Grudge Avoided the "movie" due to my general prejudice towards made for TV movies. Watched D-Day instead. |

I watched what becomes of the broken hearted. I usually find those "made for tv" mini-series rather boring. While channel surfing, i did see Kaley Cuoco starring in it though.. that may have made it a little better
|

I only watched it coz I saw a nuke going off in the previews.
