Last book I read was "The Red Scholar's Wake" by Aliette de Bodard.
Because apparently I now only read sapphic / machine romance books with murder. Fuck you. https://www.goodreads.com/en/book/show/60811024 |

Just finished this book:
At the Abyss: An Insider's History of the Cold War - Thomas C. Reed Fascinating account of building and then managing a world with h-bombs. The author is quite conservative, but I found them fairly balanced, offering some interesting insight into the politics of the Cold War.

A bit dry in the middle after you get the foundation stuff, and it wallows around with the Hungarian bizzo. Was hilarious as I sat on the couch on Sunday when a BoyBoy video came on youtube as they tried to visit Pine Gap. Last edited by StN : 12th March 2024 at 14:38. |

That sounds interesting, I'll add it to the list.
This one is well paced, only dry if you don't enjoy vignettes of high powered politics and how that intersects with military institutions. The author tends to explain things by way of mini-biographies of the individuals involved.
