I got pulled over when I had my rego/warrent expired. The cop gave me a fine, but said that if I provided receipts for them before two weeks then it will be voided.
^^^ I had actually forgotten to check them for ages...something you never really think I guess. Unless you've had a car for more than a couple of years. About 2 days later the same cop pulled me over for not stopping at a stop sign (Bottom of Hackthorne Rd in CHCH), which is pathetic considering the amount of viewing you get of traffic (about 30 meters) before the intersection - I was literally going 10km/hr. ----------------------------------------- When I was at school I had a 50cc scooter. The head light was busted and I was driving home from a party (around 1am) - my eyes were peeled for Police. I saw one about 50 meters ahead at a round-a-bout so I quickly pulled into the nearest drive way. DOH he saw me and drove up by me. He checked out the scooter and asked why the head light wasn't going and I said that it had just blown that night. My rego was expired aswell - which he noticed. I was about 5km from home and I asked him 'what should I do' - as I assumed he wouldn't let me drive - but to my surprise he said 'I don't care what you do - I never saw you'. I was like 'l33t'. Right, I read the first page, but don't have time to read the other 2 and a half pages, so here's my 2 cents.
The police in New Zealand just aren't consistent. Why is it that some ppl are fined for breaking the conditions of their Learner/Restricted liscenses, but others are simply let off with a warning/demerit points? And others aren't even given a warning, just a simple "take your mates home and then go home"? |

Chiquelet, I reckon some Officers believe that if they fine them then they may not do it again, however if they don't fine them then I think the same would still go - the might not do it again. There is no point in making a 16-18 year old hundreds of dollars in debt, instead by giving them a scare it will do just as much.
