1. Which current-gen' consoles do you own?
360, Ps2 2. Have you had any hardware failures in any of them? Yes 3. If so, which console[s] and how many failures each? 360, 1 4. What were these failures? 3RLOD 5. Did any of these failures recur with replacement units? Still away being repaired under warranty. |

I got back my xbox360 today its the same console i sent away and it plays my Japanese Games sent it in on monday and got it back this morning, so 5 days without a console is pretty good!! Also included was a Xbox Live Gold Subscription Card (1 month)!! So I am quite rapped!
Hopefully it won't break down again! |

The PS3 is definately an awesome piece of kit, but it was always priced too high, now its probably more in line with where it should have been and with a few good looking exclusives on the way it's no surprise that its doing much better.

Hopefully sales will go up and stabilize higher than they were. We don't know, yet, if they will. They could always sail back down to where they were or close to it.

All the articles I've seen that claim 100% failure lead back to the July 9 CRN Australia article.

EB Australia recalls all stock of Premium 360's
Interesting to note it's due to a batch of faulty hard drives and not the 3RL fault - I wonder if this is related to the problem I had with my first two consoles? |

hi can someone please tell me:
will MS repair RROD on consoles bought second hand out of warranty eg early 2006? Cheers |
9th December 2007, 13:23 | #219 |
|
America got there RROD warranties extended to 3 years because of all the pending lawsuits. I'm not sure if we got that extended warranty in NZ, best to just ring up MS and try.

Make sure you get the receipt, you have to be able to prove when the console was purchased.
I'm not sure what would happen if the original owner has already registered the console online though. I had registered mine on the internet, then when it came time to make a warranty claim, I didn't have to provide a receipt or proof of purchase as it had been registered with all my details already. All they did when I rung the help line was confirm all my details again. |

The advantages of getting a pro package over a starter package are that you get a HD component cable, wireless controller (not an issue here as the arcade package has one), remote control, a network cable (not everyone has spare lying around) and the hard-drive.
If you have an old xbox and some games, or even a PS2 and some games, then I would recommend doing a trade-in and get a pro package. But if you really just want to get the xbox now and don't have the extra money to get a pro package, then the arcade package does look like a good deal at $399. Just remember that you wont be able to go high-def until you either buy a HD component cable or the HDMI cable. You will also find that you'll want to get the hard-drive pretty quickly too (I think they are around $180). |

I have a launch 360 which had died once.
It hasn't had a problem since coming back although, this summer is definately going to be hotter then last so I guess this will be a true test. |

my original Xbox died in the weekend
Moved it from my room to the lounge to set it up for media on the projector for all, and when I fired it up, i got a "your xbox requires service" message in multiple languages. It might just be the 75gb deskstar harddrive that's finally given up in it.

My 360 went just before christmas. I was entirely unimpressed to find they are no longer sending out the shipping boxes, they juist email you a shipping label and tell you the original box they came in are unsuitable for sending via mail. Most boxes you buy at the post shop list that you arent' allowed to send valuables.

Yeah, well they have to keep the extended warranty charge down around a billion dollars. Free boxes would just hike that right up.

Uh, how many times do they have to go back before someone gets on their case about it? Sure, it's nice they've extended the warranty, but I'm not really interested in seeing my 'repaired' xbox go back again for a month. I think the 2nd time around they should replace it with a new unit.
|
10th January 2008, 14:19 | #240 |
|
I don't think they ever replace it with a new unit, they'll give you a refurbished one at best. But that sucks if you've brought anything off XboxLive, because you have to be logged in to access the stuff you've brought.
The only way to get a new 360 back instantly would be to take it back to the retailer you purchased it from and demand a replacement or refund. Which thanks to our consumer laws is well within our rights. It's the only way to top MS from doing it next time around, if they start to feel pressure from retailers. Complaining to the staff at hotline call centre is like talking to a brick wall. |
