Like there can ever be a justified reason for genocide.

And it's fascinating how the pattern of abuse fits the same pattern as domestic abuse, with all the usual victim blaming, the much more powerful party playing the role of victim. Pointing out how flawed their victim is, how they bring the abuse onto themselves. How the vulnerable party deserves whatever they has inflicted upon them.

I remember a Jewish lecturer, who had once served in the IDF, explaining how the state of Israel very much demonstrates the phenomenon of identification with the aggressor at the state level.

IDF have provided information to civilians and told them to escape to areas where aid can be delivered. Hamas want their own people to be killed and prevent them from escape. Hamas don't care about human life.

How young was the guy. I have had some young people that were quite surprised that IT (in theory) could track what you are doing etc.
Not sure if it is because they are new to the business world and surprised that could happen, or if they are young and actual think everything they do is anonymous

What's happening in Gaza is pure sadistic fantasy come true. Forces within Israel that have long wanted to grind out the Gazans beneath their heels have been unleashed.

I don't think people get how vulnerable we all are, how what happens anywhere in the world can impact all the world. Either we're fairly privileged and insulated, or we think our wounding is special, we're enduring something rare, few others understand. Oblivious to the volume of suffering there is in our community, and how the shape and nature of this suffering shifts along with events going on in the world.

Or is it that people are aware, but we've sunk so much into what we've got, loss is unthinkable? It's either everything is going to go on fine, or we're completely fucked.

To be clear, I don't think a genocide is likely to eventuate. But the population has already endured a thorough involuntary dicking, and more is yet to come.

NZ vote on Gaza at UN consistent with longstanding position

At the weekend, New Zealand along with 120 other countries voted in favour of a similar but non-binding vote at the General Assembly, calling for an "immediate, durable and sustained humanitarian truce" between Israeli forces and Hamas militants in Gaza, as well as demands that all parties comply with international humanitarian law, and to ensure sufficient and unhindered aid and supplies can get into the Gaza Strip.

It also called for the immediate and unconditional release of all civilians held captive.

Fourteen countries, including the United States, voted against the resolution and 45 others abstained.
