73% WHAT. Thats a c? Damn.

I think Ab is refering to velocity being speed and direction.

Bingo. Velocity is a vector.

Hrm, so you can pass 8th grade science by memorizing a bunch of arbitrarily chosen names for some natural processes without really understanding anything about them. Sounds exciting, why is science not a more popular subject at school??

Those that didn't know that and therefore understand what you were saying should consider themselves failed in our little science test.

Of course the question should have used the word "speed" instead but of course since one answers had the right speed and none gave direction I was sure of it being what they were trying to offer as the correct answer. Really it is just sloppy to ask a science question and use the wrong word, for all they know your science teacher may have just finished explaining to you earlier today (my science teacher did explain it, though quite a few years back now) how in science the word "velocity" has a different definition to "speed". IMO deduct a point for the quiz makers science knowledge.

Heh - many of my favorite short stories were written by scientists (or ex scientists - or people with scientific training). Of course it does seem to be less common these days.

I never memorised some of those scientific facts in school (especially in geology...) My science education revolves around doing experiments and understanding the principles behind experimental results.

I guess since they are formed in higher temperature or pressure regimes you could generalise they are found deeper in the Earth, but because of tectonics, sedimentary rocks could also (for a short amount of time) and igneous rocks come from there too...I guess you choose the best fitting answer.

I got 80%, damned meteoroids and biology

If they meant "formed", they should have said "formed", not "found". You can find marble, schist, chalk, and any other metamorphic rock just lying around in plain view.

At least none of the kids appear to be socially awkward - clearly the term "science geek" is highly inaccurate.
