Expert Infotech is a big No Go from me.
I ordered an Opteron 165 (In stock) from them last wednesday night. Saw the invoice total came to $250. I deposit the cash, and leave it, expecting the order to be delivered to work. I then get to work 2 days later and notice nothing has happened. I log into their website and see that it's payment pending. I then see in the notes to the invoice (not the total table) that they expect $260, inc shipping. I then deposit the extra $10. I called them up, and all appears to be sorted. The item states delivery as soon as possible, as of Sunday. I've called them up asking for the courier tracking number, have sent emails, and have called again, speaking to "managers" (who only tried to get me off the phone rather than hearing what I wanted), But I'm getting the run around. They are not calling me back, replying to my emails, or giving me the tracking details for the package. You get what you pay for, and it was my own fault I went for the cheapest retailer on pricespy. I have purchased from most other retailers (e.g. ascent, PP, aquilatech) and haven't had any problems. So I'd advise against buying from Expert Infotech, despite their cheap prices, due to their terrible customer service, lack of customer focus, tacked on costs, and general shittyness. Cheers |

And now they've told me the item is now out of stock from all their supplier. I'm getting a refund. This is the worst service I've ever recieved. Terrible.

^ Not defending them, but is it the service that's bad or the brands of hardware that are poo? I mean, they can't help what's inside a sealed box ...

I'm going with more the hardware... seems to be dodge....
My mate bought some creative speakers off them even though I warned him!!! and they were faulty!!!!! I think they might be trying to sell previously owned / repaired products. |

I've *heard* that there are/were some companies repackage and resell faulty gear. It's cheaper than actually testing it. If it comes back a second time, then it's confirmed faulty and they can RMA it.

Time for a quick review. Just purchased about $2000 worth of stuff from:
Extreme PC Ascent Technology Ascent Technology: Absolutely OUTSTANDING service. I cannot stress enough how incredible this company is. If you're looking to buy several items and have them assembled I would highly recommend this company. Their website keeps you updated on the status of every item, from when they've ordered from their suppliers, to when they've received them to when they're being assembled, ready to be shipped and finally shipped. I didn't realise the case I'd bought didn't come with a PSU. One of their sales team contacted me and let me know. I wasn't purchasing my CPU and Vid card from them but told them what I was going to put in and she got one of the technicians to make a few recommendations for me and even though I'd already paid for the case and they'd ordered and received it they sent it back and ordered me the alternative without any fuss or extra hassle. They put the difference on my credit card without me having to make any payment myself. Every time I've emailed them they've responded within minutes and are extremely understanding. I realised that one of my current hard drives had failed and they were happy to replace it with a larger capacity SATA one (original was IDE). Then I found out it was actually purchased from a different company and they even gave me advice explaining that the manufacturers warranty should actually be longer than the warranty that company had specified and gave me some tips on how to get it replaced free of charge. Mint. They may be a little bit more expensive than other companies but for the peace of mind it's worth it. Also, free shipping anywhere in NZ and they reimburse you your costs if you return anything. Extreme PC As soon as I made the bank deposit (hadnt even cleared yet) my goods were shipped and arrived the next day. Extremely impressed with that speed of service. They were very accommodating when I was considering switching my video card for a different brand and they were more than happy to sort it out for me (ended up sticking with what I had in the end anyway). However if I returned I would have to pay the cost of returning myself and pay the full shipping fee again for the other video card to be sent, not so good.

My E6850 and 8800GTS 320MB from Extreme PC are MINT. Saved me about $300 than from sourcing those components with the rest of my rig through Ascent.
Will trade again. Their Asian sales team needs to polish up on the written English skills however.

Yeah I brought a new drive from computerlounge.co.nz online on saturday. I wanted to know if the advertised HDD was the same as the drive I brought from them 6 months back. I was going to email them about it but used their online chat facility instead and got an answer in 2 minutes

For a couple of times now most recently, I have used Aquilatech http://www.aquilatech.co.nz/ and while it has only been about two orders so far, they definitely have good customer service and are prompt. They are Lower Hutt based and I have only had stuff sent to Welly, so I'm not sure what they are like for stuff out of town.
I got recommended to them by a work mate who has used them for a couple of year and he has always had great service from them. Last edited by El Lay : 4th April 2008 at 09:48. |

quick story on oczone:
order a cpu tuesday received email saying price for the cpu was so special that i had to order a mobo too. total lol, but what the hell i needed one anyway. made another order for mobo and paid for both instantly (same bank) mobo arrives thursday no problem. call on friday to check cpu status, they confused the order and didn't send it, said it would come monday. i say screw that cancel it and refund me - i need it urgently (they wouldn't do sat delivery), so they cancel it. call on monday to check refund - check bank tomorrow they say. call tues - 2 working days they claim, i ask why as it's the same bank - they say accountant busy. call wed - accountant gone home, promise tomorrow call thurs - account gone home again (2:30pm). i ask why didn't he do it this morning and get "i know nothing about that". |
