Go to Kings Cross.

Ride a train. Especially ones that say 'Rave naked near the blue light' (I think its a security thing that had been 'photochopped')

Go to Bondi Beach.

Tada .

Whip, head down to Utopia. Its on George Street, down opposite all the movie theatres.
http://www.utopia.com.au/

Also, there is a huuuuge Cathedral, and an Art Gallery in The Domain. And near there is an awesome museum.

The Rocks is quite a pleasant place to go. Manly is easy enough to get to and potter around. Bondi is amazing, definately make tracks to there. I've never seen a beach quite like it.

Theres also that abstract gallery with the 2 huge match sticks out the front... can't remember where that is located though.

These may seem quite touristy.. but they are the kinda things I did when I lived there, besides egging people's houses, having lans, and learning to skateboard over in East Ryde. You're welcome to try those things too =)

Well, I am in East Ryde ... sans skateboard though.

Buses are great into town, must say - Auckland sure could learn a thing or five.

It was mad yesterday for the boxing day sales. Sidewalks were just full as.

Bondi here I come. I hear the Coogee bay hotel is the place to get hammered.

Just make sure their meaning of getting hammered includes alcohol rather than workshop implements...

It's pretty good there. (semi) Recall a couple of *very* drunken evenings spent at Bondi beach drinking establishments.

Amen, thats the one thing I miss about Sydney. The clockwork public transport system. Hell, even the ferries were more reliable and frequent than Auckland's busses.

I used to be on Moncrieff Drive, which was juss down the road from Sager Place. And the busses into town were at Sager Place every 15 minutes. Mmmm, public travel bliss.

As for things to do in East Ride: You can do what I used to do. Go wandering through that huge nature reserve "Field Of Mars" looking for trouble. Go out on the streets to see if the local nerd is roller-blading or something... hmm, actually, maybe East Ryde isn't so interesting if you aren't 5 - 14 years old.

To Bondi whippy! Have a great time in Sydney

I'm catching up with some old buddies of mine from Singapore on Monday, so we'll probably head to Bondi around then ... besides, it's all cloudy and rainy at the moment.

Right now i'm lazing about. And i've discovered that when I laze about by myself I revert to my natural state.

And that ... is without any pants on.

One thing you might find a little weird are those New Zealand Ice Cream places in shopping malls. They are the exclusive seller of L&P over there, and of New Zealand's special ice cream (shh, it's really only normal icecream). Served in those waffle cones that you can smell from miles away.

That's another thing i always dug about Sydney, the rain, all bucketting and tropical, with thunder more often than not. Is that what its like at the moment Whip?

When I used to live there (Killara) one of my favourite things to do was jump on the train and go to the blue mountains only about an hour or so to get there (if you get a train that goes straight through as far as Springwood without stopping)
Truly beautiful and you get to see a whole lot of Sydney on the way.....Kath and Kim country to be sure but still its a great way to kill a day.
Make sure you check out the three sisters in Katoomba and ride in the cable car if your feeling brave.

coogie bay hotel is over-rated.

'Rave naked near blue light' is just people scratching out some of the letters on the sticker. It actually says "At night, ride near blue light or something

New Year's Eve is the best in Sydney, the whole town is on fire and lit up once midnight hits. They certainly know how to party in Sydney.

Well, yesterday was fun.
Went to the Aquarium ... much like Kelly Tarltons, it's a waste of AU$24. After that we wandered around some more and went through the domain/botanical gardens which was nice. Lots of bats and bat shit.

Following that the bars were the next tourist stop. One of our party is gay so we went up to Oxford street. About halfway up there I realised that I could be getting myself into trouble as i was wearing my "Got Wang" shirt.
Hilarity ensued.

Being that the group i'm with is mainly Scottish, trying to turn down a drink as i'd had enough didn't go down well. Needless to say I paid for it in the morning and had to give myself a courtesy flush or three.

gg night #1.

Heading to the Zoo today to see the monkeys. Whee, lookit the monkeys.
