Check out a bulldog system ... lpg injection for diesels ... I was hesitant at first to think it would actually do much .. but fuck, the performance with the LPG on is on par with being petrol powered. Uses a 9kg bottle too ... looks lol.

Any common rail diesel will make you rethink a diesel has no power.
The late model toymotas (utes) are seriously powerfull Not wanting to state the obvious if its for towing a horse float, what do most other people use ? You need to deside if its an everyday car that gets used for towing once in a bluemoon or is it a tow vehicle full stop. You dont want a big heavy pig of a thing to drive around in if you only tow one weekend a month. My Rodeo diesel tows cars around on my tandem trailer no sweat at all... If I have the bikes on the trailer you dont even know they are there I doubt a horse float would weigh more than the cars. Again, the petrol vs diesel thing is proportional to its use. Road user charges are a bitch, but then again it costs $60 to fill the ute and it will do 600+kms to a tank / so theres no comparison against petrol. Dunno ... I would go latest model common rail diesel ute I could find. But not a light one. And FUCK auto's ....They are for Girls and people who cant drive and obviously Americans which coincedentally also fit into the "people who cant drive" part |

other people with extra-large floats use the patrol or the landcruiser most commonly
of course if they only have a regular float they use terranos & bighorns & call sorts of things like that just trying to educate myself as we've had trucks since I was 9 years old so I don't have a lot of towing experience or knowledge |

Yeah - so back to the topic of vehicles!!
I have found 2 friends in Wellington that have extra large floats (one with a patrol to tow, the other I'm not sure what she uses) - so I'm going to see if they can take me for a drive in them and get a feel for how the units sit on the road too. There is another family around here who use a dodge ram - but I've been told not to go down that track because maintenance would kill my bank account. |

The use of Dodge Rams has shown to cause morbid obesity, stupidity and an inclination towards sexual intercourse with ones cousins.

just got a manual conversion priced up for my car, all parts including labour comes to just under $2,000
fuck yea!! lots of people ask me, "why bother with a conversion, just sells yours and buy a manual" well, manuals aren't that easy to come by for this particular model, body shape, factory extras etc etc and cost way more than the auto version cost me just gotta wait until late September for when I will actually have enough leave to get my car up to Auckland and hang out for a few days |

what kind of car? whenever someone says manual swap, all i can picture is like a 4 door r32 skyline, lol.

well autocross today was good fun, new tires meant a good improvement I thought. Much more enjoyable.
Managed to get some video footage, pedal cam preliminary checks appear to show 'adequate' evidence of touge heel toe. It's gonna take me a while to edit it all together and such. Just before the last run, the sky opened up, so I decided to film from the passenger corner of the cabin. Here's the footage from the wet-weather run http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FXjitm0VSLQ It's a bit slidey, lol. perfk also enjoyed the treats the miata had on offer at her first autocross, taking the safe and cautious approach but enjoying it none the less.

yeah man, $30 for a day of watching motorsport and racing too is pretty good value after the initial investment of a race car, suit and helmet..of course.
Draft results have been posted, I came 25th out of 50 total entries, and I came 8th in class (engine not over drive) out of 21 ENOD vehicles. Pretty stoked! Consistent timings too: 00:56.62 | 00:56.88 | 00:56.37 | 00:55.67 | 01:00.82 The last one was in the wet.

The 80 series are more rugged and offroad capable in my experience than the 100 but lacking in power. I had a 4.2TD 96 model used to tow a 2.5T boat, it was superb all round as a tow vehicle, even with raised suspension but was just lacking a bit in the power stakes when it came to hills. After that had a nasty ending I got a 100 series, 2000 V8 cruiser which tows a 3T boat like a peice of piss. Economy isn't the greatest but it's manageable and its always nice being able to overtake trucks with ease in the passing lanes. If your anal on gas money and don't have another car more suitable as a daily driver/shopping trolly not the best option though. The perfect towing vehicle that is stacks ahead of any others would be a 100 series 4.2l TD cruiser. More power and more comfortable than the 80 series, easy to chip as well if you want even more grunt. What it really comes down to is cost. For a decent, medium km ie around the 200k mark your looking at around 30k for a 100 series TD, whereas for the V8 it's more around 20-22K. But the 100 series TD will hold its value far better and last longer. |
