Yeah, I'd get workers comp, sue the stapler manufacturer, sue my employer, sue the staple making people, sue the person who invented staplers, and my biological parents who made me which in turn put me in danger of stapler bites.

God Bless America.

How about you?
Not bad. I'd like to move to Melbourne and make games. I was there last November, and loved the city as much as the last time I was there, and BaM liked it too. I've applied for work, but haven't heard back yet.

Bummer about the wisdoms. Are they impacted or are you just a big woosie? You should go get them pulled out. Helps no end

Are you going to get a new bike?

Wow! Doors are a pretty good idea really.

They can block off seperate areas, and create a boundry between inside and out.

While still being able to let people inside our out simply and easily!

At your discretion of course!

P.S. W00t! 2000 posts!

Time for another check of where every one is ranked in this thread I think.

My eye hurts. Well, not quite my eye but the bottom of my eyelid. It feels like something sharp is stuck there but there doesn't seem to be anything.

Ratings are found at the bottom of each thread, and also in the reply to thread pages.

Note how the number of posts in a thread in open discussion is a link, click it, and you will see how many posts each poster has contributed to this thread.

Also ChiQ, if you need Game specific qualifications in order to get a job in Melb doing game develpoment, check out the Academy of Interactive Entertainment. They have a course with two streams. One is the programming stream, and the other is the animation/graphics stream. Half way through, both streams join and the artists and the programmers work on games together. This is the course Bahamut will be doing next year (he was supposed to be doing it as we speak, but we have some unfortunate immigration problems, long story) and from what I've seen/heard it's really good. It sounds really fun, and if I hadn't sold my soul in an 18 month contract, I'd probably be there myself

It might help you get that little head start in Melbourne. It certainly wouldn't hurt.

Yeah, a few of the schools with games courses were pimping hard at AGDC, but I don't have that option.

#Cookie: Ah, it's not so bad. I have a few heavy-weight mentors in the industry, and have one published title using one of my character skin, thought it is admittedly only a Wild Tangent WD game. I've also been asked to contribute work to a couple of How-To titles on various aspects of character creation. That's still more than most people in my situation can say. I've taken this long to find out what I really want to do with my life, and I'm patient. I'll get there

Nah not really

A lot of graduates in Australia are getting shot down right now, because the job market can't accommodate the numbers coming out of the Aussie schools. If I could afford to study in Australia I wouldn't. I'd take that money and just pack up BaM and the cats and move to Europe. They have enough graduates in Australia already and it'd not be the best use of our resources.

If I had the cash to go and do the SMU Guildhall development course in Dallas it'd be a different matter, but that's a whole different animal.

Yeah, that's why I chose my traineeship instead of just going to a tertiary institution to get my qualifications. This way I get paid to do it, and get experience at the same time. Instead of paying to graduate and having every employer turn me down for having no experience.

Best wishes with whatever you end up doing. And I hope you decide to move to Melbourne.

Random thought time:

"Why dont they have a reality tv program, where the participants sit there and watch reality tv programs and make comments! They could call it "Spectator livingroom" or something.... It sounds ridiculous but people would watch it! I know they would!"
