About 10 years ago, I wondered about setting up a camera to my Video Blaster capture card so I could dial home and see what the dog was up to. Well, several years later, and the advent of cheap web cams, cable intertron access and WAP enabled cellphones, I now know that he sleeps most of the time, occasionally plays with a stuffed toy, rips newspaper to shreds, and stands in his water bowl.

Oh, and I have a registered version of ActiveWebCam, but I can't find the code...

I know it is wrong to speak ill of the dead, but my grandfather was a dopey motherfucker. His incompetence has screwed me out of a UK Ancestry Visa, at least for this time round. He not only got my Grandmothers age wrong on my mother's birth certificate, he also put her place of birth in an entirely different country. Thank granddad, now I have to try my luck with a working holidaymakers visa with all the incipient restrictions on my ability to find work, until we can source my grandparents wedding license (which the petty and officious beauraucrats at the High Commission have deemed is the ONLY supplementary evidence that they will accept) from South Africa - ETA six months.

Could be worse, but it could have been so damn simple and easy. Curse you Grandfather, and your children, and your children's children, I will have my revenge!
