In my experience, hardware that's been repaired or reworked is checked over better than hardware fresh off the assembly line, as it gets personal attention. I used to do this stuff and it was extremely rare for repaired gear to come back, unless the parts used were also faulty.
Having said that, who knows what MS get up to in their repair centre?
