So... er... am I missing something? Why didn't you give it to him when he was there last time? Since when does a customer have to give notice when turning up to your premises? Why couldn't you say "oh shit, soz dude - gimme ten minutes? wanna coffee whilst you wait?"?
Seriously, your customer service (if your posts and your posts alone in this thread are anything to go by) sucks. Work on it, it will make the difference between "sink" and "swim" in the industry in which you have setup shop. And I know a thing or two about this
Additional: people don't generally threaten police action unless they feel wronged. The fact that he did it to you in person (as you stated yourself - see above quote) lends some credit to the fact that it did, in fact, happen. Which screams to me that you aren't exactly being helpful.
Why not just give the bloody thing back?
