I'm no expert, so I'll start to make an attempt at an explanation, but I think you'd be better off asking someone who has a real clue.
Actually, I think you'd be better off googling. Here's a quick
link. I think the main difference is that adaptation is the individual creature, or even a group of creatures changing to fit the environment. There is a causal link between the environment and the change in the creature. Evolution is random chance. A mutation occurs in a creature, which happens to be advantageous to the creature, enabling it to survive better (natural selection) and pass on its genes.
Adaptation is causal, evolution is not.
