Water Cooling: the way it should be

Howdy, haven't posted here in a while. But I found a topic you will find most hilarious indeed.

Not quite sure if the guy is serious or not, but do read it I guarantee you will get a laugh out of it. :)

That's pure comedy gold.

I mean I'm not a total idiot (as some of your unkind replys would suggest) I did wrap the power supply unit in cling film plastic wrap before I filled it with water

Hmmm... what would have happened if he filled it with oil?

Right kind of oil, not a lot. Someone has done a modification of sinking their motherboard into an aquarium of mineral oil. Works quite well but makes hardware swapouts tedious and fiddly.

Not to mention the PC isn't very mobile.

Cracks me up though. You would think that someone who put together their own pc would have enough intelligence to know not to cover electronic components in water in the first place. :)

Um do you actually buy this then?

I knew it was 100% BS at "I turned on the water".

Redneck 6th December 2002 18:32

You could do this quite happily if you were using pure, deionized water. H20 on it's own doesn't actually conduct electricity at all, it does it most of the time thanks to the usually-present salt in most water.

it was a joke. skip to the last page of the thread and read the last few posts. pretty funny though - that Conner guy played his part pretty well :)

Of course not. I don't think for one minute that anyone that built their own pc would be that stupid.

It does make me laugh though just visualising someone doing it though, and the guy is making out to be so genuine. :)
