Gyrotech anygood?

I have gone to the Gyrotech website and they have some pretty good prices.
Has anyone here had dealings with them before? Would you reccomend them?

Thanks.

VERT 9th July 2003 02:12

Yeh I had a bit of a hassle with them a while back, they ended up dicking me around for a while before I finally managed to cancel my order and go elsewhere.

Gyrotech = zero customer service

Chrono 9th July 2003 20:37

Sweet, thanks for telling me! Their prices are a bit high compared to some others that I have now seen.

The power of word of mouth has saved another potential headache for someone :)

[KzN]Tangy 11th July 2003 12:52

hey

Well im the owner of Gyrotech..so would be good to know who it is that cancelled on us..and tell our side of the story..it wouldnt be hard to track down as we have only had about 4 cancellations in 9months of operating. Usually because the stock is no longer available and customer dont want to wait..

Our prices are way out of date as we have been flat out with orders and considering were only a small business when ur turnover triples basically overnight you can get a bit snowed under..

We all buy from the same suppliers..just need to keep our prices more up to date :P

I wrote this in the 'Computer Shops' thread after my experience with you guys near the begining of this year

Gyrotech
Have just been trying to deal with Gyrotech (Monkeytech) for the last week.

I purchased some ram off them because they were the cheapest and they had a shop in town. The ram ended up being faulty and getting a replacement turned out to be a big mission!!!

Ordered the replacement on Monday, they said they would have it on Tuesday and they would give me a call. They didn't call me and so I finally contacted them to be told it would be there on Wednesday morning, they said they would give me a call. They didn't call me, so I called them to which they said it would be in in the afternoon - they would call me. But they didn't call me, so I called them and was told the same thing but for Thursday morning. Ok come Thursday afternoon - once again they dont call me and I call them - still not there, I ask them what is going on? I convince them they should call their supplier and found out where it is and call me back. Friday (today) noon I call them, they tell me they know nothing about calling a supplier and cannot tell me what is going on. I ask for the manager to call me.

I am very supprised!!! the manager calls me, he cant tell me what is going on but suggests something about 26th of Feb for ram from their supplier. I tell him I am comming in for a refund for the faulty goods.
The refund for the faulty ram goes smoothly, I am supprised again (even though the guy who served me said he didn't know how to give refunds - he just got the money from the till in the end).

So as the saying goes "You pay peanuts you get monkeys"

I definatley wont be dealing with these guys again

In an industry like their's they have so much competition, to gain an edge they should at least be able to deliver, poor customer service and no communication just doesn't cut it.

I usually deal with Starlyte and I will continue to in the future, IMO nobody beats them for customer service and relability.

When using the word english to refer to the language in a sentence, it is incorrect to capitalise it.

Correct english dictates your sentence should read:

Your terrible english....

I read your sentence and thought that Tangy had some terrible Englishmen doing advertising for his shop.

hehe, i personally know the owner of gyrotech, and have dealt with him before, and know many people who have, i am also inthe business and know how hard it is sometimes to deal with people over the internet. and you have to admit that sometimes customers can be hard to deal with, and Tu is only human.
Full support for him.
english = bad cos fingers = 0 degrees, its cold as hell!

Well I'm not too sure if you are right about this. My dictionary definition says "of or relating to the English language". You sound so sure of yourself? Perhaps you should check and make sure :)

And I may sound like a wanker but ill means sick. I think you mean "I'll bring the beer".

Torka 11th July 2003 18:44

Pineal is wrong, it's correct to capitalise it in that context.

pineal 11th July 2003 20:20

Ok the ill wasn't intentional, and the english thing I just pulled outta my head to sound like a picky post as your one about Tangy's english does =)

You're right. My post about Tangy was a little picky. I was in a bad mood this morning and had to let it out on someone :p

dont really want this thread to die..i mean it is advertising my company :)

Firstly english is a good way to advertise a company..but i did not intend on advertising my company. Only to find out what went wrong to make sure we dont do it again. My english may not be the best because i dont have time to sit and correct every incorrect grammar. Id rather concentrate on making more sales..

In this case - i dont see what your problem is Vert?

You got some ram, it was faulty, we were going to replace it but no they had run out of stock. You did not want to wait for a replacement so you want a refund to purchase elsewhere and not another brand we sell. We give you cash because eftpos refunds were not set up at that time.

In comparison to other companies which i will not name that i have dealt with in the past - where Dead on Arrivals would always take at least 5 working days to get replaced. And if it had run out of stock then i changed brand

I know where our advantages lie, we may not be the most professional shop out there but we do what we know best and make alot of money doing so. We try not to sell the cheapest crappiest brands out there that get RMA'd alot but prefer to sell brands where we dont get returns and push sales of products recommended by reviews/forums/use. How many online retailers can you acutally ring up and get an answer from a reasonably knowledgable person? Who knows a fair bit about the latest products and developments and who is genuinely interested in computers?

I deal with Starlyte and the above is what I get, not only that but customer service which was what I didn't get from you and that was my problem - your lack of customer service and communication.

[KzN]Tangy 16th July 2003 11:28

fair call..in this situation...im pretty sure our service is alot better now

Cheeps 22nd July 2003 17:22

mick 24th July 2003 12:08

i got msot of the parts for my new pc from tu and it was sweet as, real inexpensive too :)

i heard they previously had problems with suppliers that didn't supply, but this has to be expected for a new store
